Outdoor Cape Town - more than just a hiking club.

This group is for all the outdoor and nature lovers in and around our beautiful Cape Town. For those who love hiking, walking, sunset picnics, trail running, swimming, kloofing, climbing, or any other outdoor adventure.

For those who like to hike our mountains, rivers and beaches in the Cape Town and surrounding area, but prefer to hike with a group. There are regular hikes, which are sometimes planned in advance, and others are spontaneous. We would like this group to be one where everyone is welcome to join the hikes, regardless of fitness level or age.

Outdoor Cape Town is an independent hiking club, founded in 2015, and based in Cape Town.  We offer a wide variety of hikes and trails for members and visitors.

From those early days the club has flourished and we currently have over 100 VIP club members, plus we have over 4 500 members in our Meetup group - and we are growing daily!  The hikes take place in and around Cape Town, the Western Cape and other parts of South Africa and visitors are very welcome.  The hikes are hosted by volunteer leaders and the club would not exist without the support and participation of its members.  The club caters for all levels of fitness, from day hikes to 2/7-day backpacking, but our niche will always be beginner to intermediate level hikes, with the odd advanced hike in between.  

Please note that visitors and new members are required to participate in at least 2 day hikes before joining an overnight/multi-day hike, or a weekend away.  These events will always be made available to members first and if there is still space, visitors will be allowed to join.
